A Bera/Hale Family Involvement Study
At least two (2) Health & Human Service (HHS) professionals promote Positive Family Involvement (PFI-Unity) about their relatives facing hardship.  One is Doctor Rimal B Bera the other is Director Mary R Hale.  We here at MSG have been working hard to make sense out of the impact that a tight common sensible loyal family sub-unit or unit may have on their loved one’s Quality Of Life (QOL) and Satisfaction with their lot.  The table above is snapshot for painting a much bigger picture.

Attitude Of Gratitude (AOG) Paradox (AOGP)
Giving it back
In bad times we are needy – big time!  In good times we have the energy to give back.  An Attitude Of Gratitude (AOG) first shows up in our database (TorkBase) April 16, 2014.  We actually have applied an AOG as far back as 1997.  Our family as a whole is fairly successful As Measured By (AMB): Level of Education, Career Choices, Home Ownership, Access to Cash, access to medical care, etc.  All ten (10) or so of them are fairly content.  The paradox is what we can give them In-Kind is not what they need.  They really don’t need anything.

Context of Moving
Repeatedly our family’s largest contribution has been helping us move.  An issue with the sub-science of Family Involvement is that 90% of the Commercial-Of-The-Shelf (COTS) assessments address the Family/Child relationship and the Teacher/Child relationship.  In other words COTS Family assessments address the Parent-Child-Teacher (PCT) Triad.

Aside - A Problem with 5.0s
Once again we mention a problem with awarding 5.0 Stars, 4.0 GPAs and A Grades.  The associated trends are always Flat or Negative.  We once had a boss (Bob Burns Production Manager for Bell & Howell Micrographics Division) who would not offer the highest grade (4s) in his merit increase performance reviews.

C/C with FRAS Score
We did finally come across and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) family oriented Family Involvement Instrument.  Here are our first run results applying the Family Resilience Assessment

Partial Interpretation
We consider any assessment over 25 Items large.  Overtime we chip away at them.  We have begun by interpreting the outliers Sub-constructs A3 and C3.  The FRAS indicate that our family is excellent with Problem Solving.  They fall short when it comes to Prevention or Early Intervention.  We think we are off to a good start as far as evaluating PEV-Family.

Family Involvement – Holiday – Thanksgiving 2017
Right now it is November 27, 2017.  We survived Thanksgiving with 14 or family members.  Our Satisfaction about them all improved over-all.  Even though they engage in behaviors such as wine drinking that annoy us this year they interfered less.  It was the first time we saw our brother-in-law DWB in over five (5) years.  With us, DWB went out to walk the dog (Shadow) two times.  DWB is hard of hearing (can be annoying if we can’t control for the behavioral component) yet he had letting trouble after a bit hearing Buster’s spoken words.

Sharing – Attitude Of Gratitude (AOG) – ProQOL - Coping w Burnout
We here at MSG plan to share this page of results (Course Card) with the highest performer.  For 2017 Derek [Chumley?] was the best achiever for the Helper Class.  On November 15th, 2017 we hand delivered a CRC Course Card to Derek.  He indicated he appreciated it.  That is what it is all about: MSG rewarding those that deserve it.  Health and Human Services is a challenging gig.  We do what we can to help providers cope with their Burnout.  We recommend you find and run a Professional Quality Of Life (ProQOL) to help you figure out as an HHS provider how you may be stressing.

Friends – Just Say Hi!
We left out any formal findings from our Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Law (Virtue) Assessment.  Yet for some reason we find it difficult to Just Say Hi to staff as we would say our family members or associates (peers) in other contexts.  Most of the CCCHC staff refrains from saying a happy Hello or Hello Mr. Torkelson (Buster) or Good to see You etcetera.  They just suffer a shortage for Friendliness.  Friendly is one of twelve BSA Assessment Items.  Actually it takes Bravery (BSA Virtue) to be nice and Kind.  One thing we do to be Friendly and Kind is offer up our Thumbs Up Reward (TUR).

LAC-Los Angeles County
Circa 2004: We were placed into Los Angeles County.  Away from anyone who could help us.  The facility is called Glen Eden Manor (GEM).  It is located in South Gate.  Methamphetamine was the drug of choice.  A “Meth” fix cost the inhabitants $5.00.  Many of the women sold themselves for $5.00 per transaction at night.  Many of the men stole anything they could and sold a unit for $5.00.  We called it the Freak Me Out Meth Driven $5.00 Economy (FMOMD5E).  One last note at night violence reigned.  We give this facility a D Grade.  It can get worse.  When we get back to addressing Living Arrangements for the Serious and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) we will address this as the impressionistic GEM Model.

We graduate second (2nd) in our class behind Krista A.  The term was Spring 2009.  To keep it short.  Steve Bush said repeatedly that our mission if we decide to take it is to fight what we call “The Good Fight”.  We are to champion Whatever It Takes (WIT) about the delivery of appropriate HHS Service and in the process contain health care costs.
