Dedicated To – The Dishler's Garden Grove Group
This post is dedicated to the Facebook Group: “Growing up in Garden Grove, Memories ,schools,Places,Things, and You”.  As of January 2019 this Group was created about four years ago.  An individual named Michael Dishler created our “Garden Grove…” group as a closed group.  We consider Michael’s group a standard for success with a four year growth rate of 1000 members per year.  One of the items we published on his group experienced an impression rate of around 200 individuals within 24 hours (See image below).  Since we began pre-selling our Housing Advisory Board (HAB) idea last year we have only had one person say: I want to be on it!  Mike was smart with his decision to restrict group content.  His policy is that others and we cannot sell using his group.  Thus, we cannot sell our HAB ideas with his group.  We project slow growth when we charter our HAB Facebook Group.  Our members will have one thing in common and that is the need to secure viable options for BestBed opportunities.

Acronyms (AcroCodes) that are not addressed in the following list may be defined in due course.  These are our Housing Advisory Board (HAB) related Acronyms as of December 30, 2018.  AcroCodes are labels that we would use if we were going to write the actual HAB Information Technology & Suite software.  Writing software is out of scope for us here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG).  The majority of the acronyms are not applied in this report.

Abstract – Executive Summary
Here we arrive at the Abstract for this study.  First, like: What is up with the some odd 35 pages single spaced?  Throughout 2018 we here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG) worked to keep our reports down to thirty or fewer single space font 12 Times Roman pages.  Since this paper is a foundational article it is rather long.  We plan to keep coming back to the materials contained herein.  Who are we?  We are Mentalation Solutions Group or MSG.  Our principal is Keith Edward Torkelson MS (AKA Buster).  Keith specialty is Social Pathology having graduated with a Master’s Degree in Pathology from UC Davis.  I am the Housing Advisory Board (HAB) editor.  I go by the moniker of AVEY.  When we last (January 2019) presented this idea to Rimal B Bera MD (Clinical Advisor) he indicated that we might sell our HAB idea to a program he associates.  The program is called Brand New Day (BND).  The BND local operates out of Garden Grove California.  More than five years ago Keith tried to sell a new and improved BND Newsletter idea to BND.  It didn’t take off because of lack of cooperative effort and support.  We still think our Newsletter Better than Ever!” is superior than the one BND currently publishes and circulates.  So as not to point out any one individual at BND we will say we approached Keith’s assigned helper with Housing Issues.  That person said there caseload was too demanding and thus they would not help.  Yet, we favor Doctor Bera’s idea so we will begin to sell the HAB idea to BND passively.
-
SleepAbility (MSG, 2019)
We include the seven parts to introduce our HAB idea.  Before us we have a rather large productivity challenge.  We hope by summer 2019 others jump in via Facebook and help us out.  We ended our 2018 pre-selling effort by chartering a Dedicated HAB Blog on January 1, 2019.  As of today, January 19, 2019, we have a total of 26 viewers.  In the middle of our efforts we were faced with a Sleep Crisis.  While running its course our Sleep Value Scores (SVS) ranged from 2.5 to 5.0 of 5.0 being the best.  Let us say a SVS of 2.5 is highly problematic.  That he might cope: Keith took a “Respite” paid for with his combined with family funding.  The outcome of the (SleepAbility) crisis seems promising.  One of our key arguments for those Renting A Shared Room (RASR) is for confidence about SleepAbility.  More on SleepAbility later and is a follow up report.
-
Brief V Details
We here at MSG use the Free Blogger Platform (FBP) to address detailed information whereas we hope the Free Facebook Platform (FFP) we can keep lean and mean.  From our work defining deliverables we have generate dozens of product ideas.  In this report we address about eight of these ideas.  Recently in public we heard it announced that the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) will update or create anew a New OCHCA Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Resource Directory.  We are in a race to see whether our proposed resource management method(s) will outperform the OCHCA’s.  Next we address selecting names for our Housing Platforms.
-
Assessment – Outcome Measures
We here at MSG have defined some benchmarks to track our successes.  We hold back our definitions for a standalone publication.  Of the cuff we developed and applied what we here at MSG call a: SleepAbility Assessment Tool or SAAT.  Applying lived experience with Renting A Shared Room (RASR) we punched out a Quick Score Sample (QSS).  Also we summarize a bit of our work in the field (Practical).  We will wrap it with MSG’s position regarding a robust balance between Confidentiality and Transparency.  In Keith’s history of trying doctor prescribed experimental psychotropics he has witnessed some incredibly “insane” events.  Thanks to Confidentiality these key events in patient/consumer management are lost.  They can never be preserved digitally.  Still we here at MSG take care about disclosures. We ask ourselves can the world be made a healthier place is we share what we see.  One last note we always try our best to take the consumer’s side (consumer advocate).  The roll of advocate was gifted to him by doctor Bera.  We hope you find this report as helpful to educate as it was for us here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG) to write.

Motivation - Three Best Leads - Personal Gain
Considering we do not have a Housing Solutions Portfolio (HSP) for ourselves we hold back our three best leads.  The Rent A Shared Room (RASR) sector has fewer GoodBeds at any given time than people in need of GoodBeds.  In order to stick it out and publish this report we go back and look at people who are or were less fortunate that ourselves.
-
Markers About Outreach  (MAO)
As Buster (AKA Keith) migrates about the community on his journey for recovery and wellbeing he crosses paths with the homeless.  About half the time he photo documents these encounters.  He came across one homeless gentleman wearing a wrist band.  The County of Orange’s Health Care Agency (OCHCA) is and has been for at least five years conducting outreach to these people.  When you approach homeless people it can get rather risky.  For our safety we wish that the HCA would issue a Behavioral Health Yellow wristband to any people they screen in the field.  When we talk with them we assume they have either been “Mal-engaged” or not engaged at all.

Define – Renting A Shared Room (RASR)
In the context of Housing Advisory (Advocacy) renting a shared room is when one person shares a subsection of a facility, location or home with another person or persons that are not friends, family, spouse, workmate, significant other or of the opposite gender.  The other person or persons often suffer disability either physical, behavioral, or both.  The type of shared room that our HAB addresses is often called erroneously a Room & Board.  From our observations the density of guests in a Shared Room ranges from two to four.  Ponder taking the room you sleep in at this moment and moving in two other people for the long run.  In the room the level of functioning and productivity is governed by the least functioning individual(s).  We here at MSG call this the “Dug” Rule.   Incidentally “Dug” died too young as a consequence of his own problems securing a GoodBed.

Where is the target population?
Unlike Michael whose potential population most likely exceeds 100,000 people our target population is more like 1000.  Using the Mike’s Garden Grove Group membership number from January 7, 2019 of approximately 6000 he has reached about 6% of his target potential.  For us this would be about 60 people.  Other than numbers another difference is that Mike rigorously maintains his group.  We are hoping to get things going so that the Group maintains itself.  Our first round target population is those hovering about or with lived experience about Renting A Shared Room (RASR) in Orange County.  There is a hurdle in our method because disadvantaged people living in a shared room for the most part are not up to speed either with hardware such as SmartPhones or using software such as Facebook.  Remember that movie where it was said: “Build It and They Will Come”.
-
OCHCA – Lived Experience
We have stated in multiple reports that from 2009-2017 we performed work for the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) – Technological Needs Advisory Committee (OCHCA-TAC).  On March 16th, 2010 we began authoring a presentation about the Technological Needs for consumers of Behavioral Health.  We presented for the community including the OCHCA MHSA Consumer Action Advisory Committee (CAAC).  The theme was computing needs of Behavioral Health Consumers (BHC’s) and their families.  A component of this work was a small dollar project that developed and placed consumer computers (Kiosks) in many of the OCHCA BHS clinics.  This we felt was a good start.  Our records show that we became a member of the MHSA Innovations Advisory Committee (IAC) with our first meeting dated: October 27, 2011.  We use lessons learned from our brief IAC experience in designing our Housing Advisory Board (HAB).  Later we were asked to formally score (vet) a round of MHSA Innovations Projects.  One idea (project) was to place information technology devices in the hands for Behavioral Health Consumers.  In order for our HAB Facebook Utility to succeed we need Information Technology Devices (ITDs) in the hands of more consumers.

Encouragement - Success
Since beginning to Blog in 2012 we here at MSG have published more than 100 articles and reports.  We designed our Posts so they would not elicit feedback.  For the most part it worked.  Earlier this month (January 2019) we were reviewing one of our posts and found that someone wanted feedback.  This was encouraging because we want our Housing Facebook Platform (HFP) to not only elicit feedback we want it to be an Interactive Housing Problem Fixer Upper (IHPFU).  All we really need is some odd 60 consumers and experienced family members to come aboard by the end of 2019 (Benchmark).  It is slow going because after one year (2018) of pre-sales we have reached only one person in the community.  They say: “I want to be a member”.
-
20190110-W: Doctor Bera’s Suggestion
At 3pm on January 10, 2019 Buster saw his new and improved Behavioral Health Doctor (BHD) Rimal B Bera for routine medication management.  We leveraged the opportunity for sharing MSG’s Housing related pursuits.  Doctor Bera suggested that we engage Brand New Day (BND).  We tried to tell him that our Brand New Day (BND) helpers since 2014 had become ineffective.  The Brand New Day members (clients / consumers) could be very helpful though.  For quite some time we have felt that a biweekly Housing Group would at BND would be beneficial.  The group (Brand New Day Housing Fixes) would be run by BND Staff yet Buster would stop in once a week to pick up group generated materials.

Discussed our Housing Advisory Board notion with our Behavioral Health Doctor (BHD) Rimal B Bera MD.  He indicates that our HAB idea is a good venture.  He indicates that we might bring Brand New Day (BND) on board.  We tried to tell him that as far as housing is concerned BND has been unable to help us out.  We discussed just one of the projects we had hoped to share with BND.  The product was our BND “Better Than Ever” Newsletter.

We searched high and low for RASR baseline numbers.  For example how many shared room houses are still in business in Orange County.  We have found no real good numbers to share.  So we will focus on the performances of our HAB Blog and HAB Facebook Groups.  For the time being the true product this quarter (winter) of our HAB endeavor is the Facebook Group Component (FGC).

Personal
This project is born out of personal necessity and the needs of MSG’s principal, Keith, those he lives with and those in the community he routinely associates.  Keith needs a MoveNow portfolio sooner than later.  His helper agency, Brand New Day (BND), has failed to deliver anything tangible.  His helper at BND stated he could not help Keith.  Keith’s new and improved Behavioral Health Doctor (BHD) indicates that our Housing Advisory Board idea is a worthy cause. (AVEY, 201901)
-
Need Demonstrated by Data V Photographs
In this post we do not have enough rent a shared room data to share.  We do have photographs from our photographic journaling.  Some of our photos may be new to some groupies.  When we looked back on how we missed some of the best photos chronicling the Behavioral Health Experience (BHE) we are glad we here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG) took the time and faced the risks associated with outreaching to the disadvantages.  Here in this report we share some snapshots from our lived experiences with consumers of Behavioral Health Services and Supports.
-
Marketing Element
Just as when you go online to find a fix for your laptop or printer the fixes you find are sloppy.  The benefit is that the more you know about your machines the more likely you will find and apply a fix.  There are very few solutions in life unless you are cautious and conservative when you define the problem.  For example with a printer crash you can say I just want it to print again for the day by the end of the day.  With that definition you stand a chance to solve your problem.  If you say I want it to print right forever until it wears out prepare yourself for disappointment and no solutions.
-
Problem Solving Element
We promote the problem solving approach.  If the problem is big enough such as renting a shared room we address it as a Project.  Remember all we want right personally for Keith (AKA Buster) are three viable alternative GreatBed Options in our MoveNow Portfolio.
-
Group Clutter
We propose stealing some of the approaches that our model Facebook Group (Garden Grove…) uses to avoid group clutter.  We will use our Blogger Platform to address large updates.
-
Housing Products
We have all kinds of renting a shared room ideas and potential product lines.  Many of the products are named as if they were elements of an overarching logic model master program.  We have determined that it might be wise to include the housing software in the Electronic Health Record so as not to duplicate effort and incur unnecessary costs.
-
Housing the Disadvantaged (Sprouts from Mission Statement)
Once again we here at MSG focus on housing and housing issues for the disadvantaged including the disabled.  We categorize our material pertaining to housing emergencies under: Securing Our Shelters (SOS).  The Housing Advisory Board idea as presented here addresses a timelier and strategic approach to provide and find beds for those positioned near the Rent A Shared Room (RASR) option.  In addition, for our consumers we hope to find just not any bed but a GreatBed.  We would like as a target service goal to find and secure said GreatBed within 72 Hours.
-
Again Save Money (Costs)
We here at MSG would like to help consumers avoid the ER or Psych Ward while transitioning.  This could save money and unnecessary hardship.  We would like to support hospital social workers in finding the GreatBed within 72 hours of the identifying a need or unmet need.  MSG is building about a Single Platform that is made available to us free-of-charge.  That platform is Facebook that we here are supporting with Blogger.  Some of our ideas come from attending The Orange County Health Care Agencies’ (OCHCA’s) meetings for delivering their “Anita” and “No Place Like Home” efforts.  One of the key products that “Anita” is promises is its’ New & Improved: Peer Navigators/Online Resource Directory

This report we will publish in tandem.  One copy on our new dedicated Housing Advisory Board (HAB) Blog.  A second copy we plan to publish on our Brand New Day Blog that has matured a bit.  Our Brand New Day (BND) Blog has a charter date of: May 27, 2017.

Define Problem Solving
Problem solving might be described as “the process of finding solutions to difficult or complex issues”.  We here at MSG are gradually becoming experts at creative and innovative problem-solving.  As OCHCA Deputy Director Mary Hale stated before she retired (2018): “Housing is a complex issue”.  We find for ours and others meeting housing and associated needs to be: “Resistant to Solution”.  Therefore as we apply about our Technology Division (MSG-TD) we propose “Fixes” rather than total Solutions.

Special Topic – Competition
In the sector of Renting A Shared Room (RASR) to the disadvantaged there is little completion.  Bed owners know that there will always be another tenant to come along a fill a bed (AnyBed).  About 2010 the number of documented RASR beds seem to have peaked whereas the need has increased.  One of the HAB’s efforts is to verify this hypothesis by refreshing the RASR information bases.

Membership – 2018 Sales Efforts
Our model Garden Grove Facebook Group has assigned an one Administrator and two Moderators.  If ever we may make assignments after the Group has “Gone Live” for three or so months.  As we mention elsewhere we have been selling our Housing Advisory Board concept for about twelve months (2018).  We introduced our HAB to over 200 Health & Human Services workers.  Only two have been interested.  Both of them are very important to us.
-
Image Selections
For Facebook we will select about 3 images including photographs per week to stimulate discussion and help fix housing problems in and about Orange County California.  We will describe the image / photo as: Problem, Quality Of Life or Satisfaction.  Possibly we might see our dreary field observations in a more promising light.

About This Group – HAB General
This brief addresses the performance of our Group (Name Pending) on Facebook.  We hope always includes half of the members with lived experience(s) renting shared rooms about Orange County California.  We are a member of a “Closed” group that shares experiences about growing up in Garden Grove California.  We consider this group a success.  Yet it primarily addresses sharing neutral information rather than problem solving.  We want our Housing Group to help people solve their housing problems in an ever more efficient and satisfying manner.
-
About This Group – Facebook (Draft)
The Facebook group we will most likely call: Facebook Housing Advisory Group 201901.  We here at MSG are designing it to help any disadvantaged person find a GreatBed in a rent a shared room environment.  All elements of HAB are at this time provided “Free Of Charge” (FOC).  It is open to all members’ consumer and provider alike.  We have no eligibility criteria.  We have some outdated resources.  Gradually with consumer helping consumer we hope to bring our rent a shared room resources about Orange County up-to-date.  Some of the agencies we compete with are the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA) and the Mental Health Association of Orange County (MHA).  In the Blog HAB Group we hope to provide information that may be general enough to have global impact (The Schwabe Promise 1987).  We have discussed in prior reports how it is that Doctor Schwabe still influences Buster (AKA Keith)

Time for More Inspiration - Vignette – Little John (AKA NOMJ)
At this point our Power Level is running low.  In the middle of fixing problems every once in a while we need to PowerUp with inspiration.  To do so we picked a video that our principal Buster (AKA Keith Torkelson) published online using You Tube.  The records show we published it on Apr 11, 2018.  We call it: Housing Issue - The Sleep Ability of A Room - COPD Noise Study.  This short video is part of our study that we call “No Time for Old Men or NOMJ”.  This video clip is also identified as: 20180411 Sleep Cough Impression Edit.  While going back to fish out our link we discovered that on January 7, 2019 (Monday) that we had achieved 522 views.  For us here at MSG it’s huge to have over 100 video views.  All we need to make substantial progress with our Facebook fix is 60 consumers (family members) weighing in and participating.
-
FYI – A No Time For Old Men (NFOM)

This video speaks for itself yet gradually we will better describe the back story.  We decided to draw the divide of: “Died Too Young” at age 65 or under.

Results from Pre-Sales
Once again, we here at MSG performed pre-selling activities during 2018.  From these we had mixed results.  We are adjusting our methods to help gather more support.  In response to mixed results we counter with “mixed methods”.  When it comes to information share online we get fairly good and sometime remarkable results (Sample Below).  When we solicit others to work and help us the returns can be tiny.  Considering that Blogger (Google) and Facebook are Free!  We are able to bring our ideas up to now on a table for Free! :o) Keyword = FREE!
-
The Right Platform
As far back as the year 2000 our principal Keith (AKA Buster) here at Mentalation Solutions Group (MSG), at that time Tork Reconstruction Company, desired to create and maintain a website.  Somewhere around 2010 he took interest in the Blog of his older sister.  Keith chartered his first blog “AnimaCules” during 2012.  After examining WordPress, Tumblr, and Blogger he selected Blogger as his primary platform.  On a glitch in 2016 he was asked to rate a DMV test preparatory site on Facebook.  At this time there is no one best platform with which to fix housing problems for the disadvantaged.  We here at MSG have decided to go with Blogging about our in depth material and try to save our Facebook Group for lean-mean-green problem solving.  For initialization we here at MSG pick a fairly narrow housing sector and that is Renting A Shared Room (RASR).  We also call RASR homes for old dying men.
