20170811-F: DriveAbility (Satisfied and Time to Move Forward)
The following table indicates our DriveAbility.  One of Doctor Rol’s strengths is that after seeing him he lets us carry the paperwork about the encounter to the front desk.  No-one seems to mind that we go through page by page.  The information enclosed is quite insightful.  One again probably our greatest risk factor for eye meltdown was that our Left had had recent Cataract Surgery.  Note on 20170717 Blood Sugar Level @ 815am = 108.  We do not know the reference range.  Let us just say it is slightly high.  We are making some behavioral and nutritional changes to address it now.  There was a notation in the exam room regarding PQRI and PQRS.  Doctor notes that: “You must have something on your side”.  I.e. our HealAbility is high.  The bubble size is down to that of a ball-bearing.  Doctor says the image result is “Fantastic”.

20170808-TU: Day-48 - Coordination Check
CCCHC scheduling is not coordinated with OC Ophthalmology.  In August 8, 2016 we had CCCHC print us a copy of  our “Appointment Card”.  No appointments were listed exempt for the on-site CCCHC appointments.

20170807-M @ 1230: Day-46 – Closing This Event
On Thursday August 3rd, 2017 we saw Doctor Rol for a post-operative checkup.  We were tested: Our left eye pressure was 20mmHg.  Our visual acuity was: 20/20 (Right) and 20/25 (Lt).  Our left eye improved since our last exam (Left = 20/40).  Our retina for both eyes was scanned.  Doctor indicates our Left has near completely reorganized.  We to Doctor Rol we were “satisfied”.  There are a couple of issues with the left eye: It sees images as smaller thus further away than they really are.  The left sees things a bit dimmer that the better right eye.  We are schedule an exam in 1 month.  For the most part we can see the laptop screen and see to drive again.  Doctor approved us to go back to our Yoga/Pilates class.  He said take it easy.

Tying Up Loose Ends

20170703-W:  Day-41 – Begin Closure
Tomorrow we have and appointment with Dr. Rol at 345pm.  We intend to take the bus because our eye is very likely to be dilated.  We have been working to see if our program Brand New Day can help us with transportation in the future.  We are both satisfied because using glasses we see our laptop screen and are able to drive the car.  We have yet to drive at night.  Since our last appointment our vision has not changed much.  We hope the Doctor Rol releases us to be physical again.

20170715-SAT: Day-23 - Healing

20170714-F @ 0700: Day-22 - Pause to Facilitate Healing
Due to the fact that we are not scheduled for an exam for over two week we are pausing our journal here focus on the slow healing process.  During the pause we will address risk factors, prevention, and early intervention.  Our primary concern to resolve in the healing stage is a few floaters persist.  End of Note.

20170713-TH: Day-21 – Progress Note
We had a follow up appointment with Doctor Rol today at 1030am in the Garden Grove Office.  We opted to take the bus even though our DriveAbility is improving.  He ran a bit behind.  This makes sense considering to routine visits convert to complex mitigation procedures.  His tech examined both acuity and eye pressure.  As of this moment our vision is 20/20 for our right eye and 20/40 for our left eye.  Our eye pressure for the left eye is 14 mmHg in the normal range of 12-22 mmHg.  Before she left she dilated our left eye only.  Soon after followed Doctor Rol.  His examination using a free handheld magnification device yielded favorable results.  Here are the updated doctor’s orders.  Maintain no yoga/pilates.  Can sleep on both sides.  Note: He said we’ve suffered considerable nerve damage thus for now we except the following: Left eye will see dimmer for a while.  The size distortion where the left eye see that same object as the right is 33% smaller for the left eye.  A new set of glasses does not guarantee improved vision.  Last, he re-iterated do not go where the pressure will change such as up to Big Bear.

20170710-M: Day-19 – Addressing DriveAbility (MSG-DAA, 2017, 18 Item

On 20170702-SUN: We here at MSG drafted our DriveAbility Assessment Tool Beta Version. On 20170708-SAT: We first applied our new instrument to Assess driving safety and confidence current and retroactive.  The following indicates how we self scored.  The assessment tool is classified as Common Sense (LAW1).  When we injured our eye in 1978 after the intraocular blood cleared up we felt confident and drove.  It took until 1983 (5 years) for our eye to heal from skittishness.

20170708-SAT: Day-17 – Dark Day – De-escalation

20170707-F: Day-16 – Progress Note – Retina Repair - Active
Yesterday we saw our surgical ophthalmologist Dr. Rol.  Doctor Rol repaired our left eye on 20170628-W: As we stated in Thursday entry he said we were doing “fantastic”.  He pointed out a couple of our strengths: Our age (still young) and that we did not suffer diabetes.  He completely disregarded one of our major weaknesses.  In the top five of our weaknesses is that we are a cigarette smoker.  Why point it out unless you are prepared to solve it for us.  Using our Quick Score Method (QSM) we award Dr. Rol five (5) stars.  We would eagerly refer any friend or relative to him for services and care.  Brand New Day really has a wonderful Retinologist on board.  He still wishes us to focus on the treatment plan and therapy.  For next week we really have to measure what we commit to.  Thank you again Dr. Rol.

20170706-TH: Day-14 – Key Event – Crucial Follow Up
Our appointment was at 11AM in the Garden Grove Facilities.  After two tests by his technologists and one by himself Doctor Rol declared “Really fantastic and great”.  He says remain guarded the way you have been.  He decreased the number of head tilt procedures to four (4) per day.  He says to still sleep on my right side.  He listened as we read our narrative about Day-13.  He said eloquent and put it to print. We took this as an approval.  In a manner this and the other updates qualify and paraprofessional activates. Once again, we must sustain a realistic level of guardedness.  He instructed to finish up the drops he had prescribed us.  Yesterday Brand New Day sent us a second approval about this case.  It was for Doctor Taban who we saw over one (1) week ago.  We shared the results with our oldest sister (supporter).  She says: “That’s good news!”  Last we will visit our Portal to see if there are any updates.

20170705-W: Day-13 New Hopes – Objectives & Narrative – Practicing Paraprofessional
We held this section over on day so we could share it in person with Doctor Rol.  After reviewing it he said that the text that follows is very “eloquent” and we might “publish” it.  We woke in better spirits this morning largely due to a good night’s sleep.  The musculoskeletal pain we accrued early on in treatment is now absent.  Vanishing Point Test (VPT): We call the phenomena about the differing sizes of the same object registered in each eye our VPT.  It matters because we think that the conflicting Vanishing Points make it difficult to drive.  We have been getting substantial coaching from our friend Gloria Shanks.  At this moment we pass the laptop test.  After an initial gain in our ability to focus things remain the same.  Right eye is better with glasses.  Left eye is better without glasses.  There is not real pain other than emotional.  Tomorrow, July 6, we have two appointments:  The first with our lab and the second with Doctor Rol.  There are fewer floaters this morning. The bubble has two nodes.  Status is stable.  Spirit: We hope that Mr. Give It Back helps us out persistently.  We really feel here at Mentalations Solutions Group (MSG) there is an un-met need for, those with lived experience about retinal detachment populate, a Warm-line to help others and us with doubt and fear.  Coping: To cope with this crisis we have been writing about daily experience and struggles with this key event.  All of our supporters in each own manner have helped up out.  The biggest help was a ride home from surgery that Mel Shanks provided. The most problematic person was a roommate that kept us up from sleeping a couple of nights ago.  Again, last night was better.  We are re-upping our Luck. End 20170705W: Day-13 Record.
